FROM THE FIELD: A “Two-Way Street” of Encouragement

From the beginning, this From the Field Newsletter has balanced two components of updates from SALT Ukraine’s strategic partners: prayer requests and praises. The prayer request component is pretty obvious: there are difficult circumstances being endured by tens of millions of people as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and the needs are great. Families scattered, lives uprooted, and futures uncertain. Through all of that, SALT Ukraine and their partners long to be lights in the darkness, sharing the good news of the Gospel. There is so much to pray for and we ask you to be faithful in praying to God for needs you read and hear about.

But in the face of those needs, there continue to be stories of God’s amazing grace, his providential hand, and his everlasting love. We share and emphasize these stories with great enthusiasm! One, they serve as vivid reminders that PRAYER WORKS! We know that intellectually, but how uplifting to hear details of how the prayers of God’s people are felt by and impacting the lives of SALT Ukraine’s partners. If you missed the inaugural From the Field Newsletter in March, or even if you read it then, take in the power of how prayer makes a difference!

Even more, these stories of encouragement strengthen us! Hebrews 10:24 says, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.” Even though you may be thousands of miles away, let these stories “spur” you on: to more fervent prayer, to more engagement with SALT Ukraine, and greater commitment to gospel-advancing, Great Commission work!

But we want to ensure that this encouragement is mutual; a 2-way street. That is why each From the Field newsletter, starting with this one, will include a link and a QR code to a simple form that will enable you to write out a prayer and/or encouragement for one of our strategic partners. We urge you to use this form regularly—and to share it with others! You’ve met many SALT Ukraine strategic partners through previous From the Field Newsletter issues, and Lord willing, you will hear about the work of many more in the weeks and months ahead!

Let them know that you are praying for them, lifting their needs to the Lord, and how their stories have impacted you.
